Miscellaneous
Who May Attend? The program is open to all Putnam County high school students who have completed the
Intro to Majors program, and welcomes adults on a
space-available basis.

When are Classes Held? The class hours are Monday through Friday during the normal public school year from 8:30 to 11:15 a.m. and/or from 12:15 to 3:00 p.m. If minimum enrollments are attained, there may be specialized night and/or summer classes.

What are the Costs? There are no costs for high school students. Tuition and other costs for adults is clarified on the Adult Info page. Financial aid is available for those who qualify.

Under the 13th Year Program, high school graduates may attend the program tuition-free for one full year directly following their high school graduation. This is particularly convenient for high school students who were unable for various reasons to begin their training until their senior year. The 13th year allows students to complete the
two-year diploma program tuition-free before continuing their education at the college level or seeking employment.

Where are the Jobs? Students completing the Graphic Design program at the Putnam Career & Technical Center are trained for employment opportunities in advertising agencies, printing companies, in-house advertising departments in businesses and industrial firms, photography studios, television stations, newspapers and other publishing houses, typesetting/desktop publishing firms, animation studios, service bureaus/prepress businesses, Web site design studios, and screen printing/
embroidery businesses.

Entrepreneurship is encouraged and employability and leadership skills are taught, thus assisting graduates in opening their own businesses.

In conjunction with Putnam County's School-to-Work initiative, students have many opportunities in which to participate in real-world design projects, giving them documented work experience in the graphic design field.

Students can not only develop designs which are printed and ready for display in their portfolios, but they can also earn an income while they are in class as well as add proof of design experience to their resumes. Depending
on the availability of job openings, students with over a year of training have the opportunity to intern with local employers.

Our PCTC newspaper, The Technical View, is printed and distributed approximately five times a year to all students currently enrolled at the center. It is also sent to our four high schools, to the Putnam County Schools central office, and is available in the foyer here at Putnam Career & Technical Center. It is designed, edited, and prepared for commercial printing in the Graphic Design program. Our most current edition of The Technical View can be reviewed through this link.
