Putnam Psychologist Named WV School Psychologist of the Year
May 25, 2006

Putnam County school psychologist Kathy Showen was named West Virginia's School Psychologist of the Year for 2006, and she will represent West Virginia in consideration for national honors later this year.

Showen, who has worked in Putnam schools since 1995, was judged to be exemplary in the areas of direct and indirect services, supervision, research and leadership.

Putnam County Superintendent Chuck Hatfield said of Showen: "Kathy plays a vital role in helping students be successful. The expertise she brings to the table helps school teams make good decisions about serving students. Needless to say, we're very happy that she has been recognized in this way."

Besides her work in the school system, Showen is active with her church and community and with her husband and three children.

Prior to working in Putnam County, Showen worked for Jackson County Schools.
